Do you believe that you or anyone else could / can persuade Vladimir Putin to let go of his vision of himself as the hero who returned Ukraine to its “rightful place” as part of Mother Russia”?
What do you believe will have to happen so Vladimir Putin will tell his army to return home and stop killing Ukrainians?
I don't have the power to persuade Putin of anything. But negotiations are a process. They happen at different levels. Front door. Back door. At the table. With trips by ping pong players. Third unaligned parties applying pressure. And of course, mass peace movements. But it will not happen if neither side wants it to happen. And I believe if Putin tells his soldiers to stop dying, to come home, they would do so quickly and gladly.
