Happy birthday. I just finished "Consequences of Capitalism" by Chompsky and he illustrates that since the end of WWII the us is/ has been responsible for 20 million worldwide deaths. War isn't the answer ever. The military industrial complex is what keeps our gun culture alive and all of the B.S. about "war on terror". War on terror is a blank check for militarism.... It's all complete garbage and we as a society need to do better.
At 77 I am among the last of the War Babies of WWII. We have never known Peace In Our Time. We used to believe that everybody loved and wished to be just like America. We now know that we are feared and hated for what we are, the leading "death from the air" - THE purveyors of death for profits.
In 4th grade I sat all day next to a very large poster of Betsy Ross sewing the first American flag. Our class was taught to admirer her.
As we grew older, finding out the lies and prejudices of our past was a sad lesson. On the other hand, seeing others continue the lies at the expense of doom, death and destruction became our bitter reality. The Military Industrial Complex and their PR firms are the consumers of my taxed income as inflation eats up my hard earned dollars and the international slaughter continues,
Hard lessons indeed to contemplate for your birthday.

Happy Birthday,Fred!
I hope that in the second half of your lifetime
you find world peace in (or for) our time and
will become able to talk with your friends
without spending the first 20 minutes of
the conversation talking about mutual
health issues.
