No matter how complicated it is and how knowledgeable one is about "war", its causes & results, every day people are killed, suffer loss of life and limb and property, who have nothing to do with its causes. THEY are the ones who suffer.Primarily many of us believe it is only about the top wealthy powerful ruling class everywhere, all the time, throughout history that steal, lie , cheat the people any way they can {patriotism, misinformation, "politics"]....to grab resources and make the "people" slaves to their control & wishes. That's it. No matter the "govt., politics, church, science, etc."......today it's the resources of the Ukraine that is wanted. Sick of it. One can be kind to others and careful at the same time, but it takes caring and some wisdom....and knowing history that would do it. Good luck, right?
Have to comment that I taught Ukrainian 4th graders in Chgo, St. Nicholas way back in 1954.......their families escaped Ukrainian dictatorship in the late 40s, were born in Ukraine or Germany on way here. They made sure every day that I understood that they were NOT RUSSIAN, had their OWN royalty, politics, religion [Byzantine rite], art, musicians, music, poets, poetry, writers, literature, theatre works, food specialties, alphabet, etc......their language teacher came into the classroom every day to remind them of Ukrainian phrases and their alphabet which was posted above the English alphabet above the chalkboard......a proud group/proud country. Doubt anything changed much about their feelings about their country today. Visiting Odessa to give a music concert about 15 years reiterated for me their feelings about THEIR music & musicians, their country. They said, again, they were NOT Russian, but Ukrainian.
