As a Florida resident, I assure you that it is impossible to exaggerate the fear and hatred stirred up by Ron DeSantis's appeal to racism. Add to that the fact that Florida's military bases and their adjuncts (VA hospitals, veteran's services, etc.) use Fox News as their standard TV station even in waiting areas, and the perfect storm is rising.
