You can't say the word racism in the murderous state of DeSantis.
Florida is once again facing nature’s wrath this morning. A level 4 hurricane named Idalia has made landfall near the state’s capital, Tallahassee.
Its ferocity is aided by the hottest Gulf waters ever.
But in the state of Ron DeSantis’ you can’t say climate change.
And you can’t say Gay.
And you can’t say racism.
The white gunman, Ryan Palmeter, shot and killed Angela Michelle Carr, 52, outside the Dollar General. Store employee A.J. Laguerre, 19, was shot as he tried to flee. Jerrald Gallion, 29, shot as he entered the store.
They were all Black.
But in the state of Ron DeSantis you can’t say racism.
Palmeter’s suicide note made it clear he was out to murder Black people.
But Governor DeSantis won’t say racism.
To the governor, Palmeter was a “scumbag” because you can’t say racism in the state of DeSantis.
Police officials say there were writings to his family, federal law enforcement and at least one media outlet. Sheriff Waters said that the shooter made clear in his writings that he hated Black people.
Palmeter used an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle and a Glock handgun in the shooting, He had legally purchased the guns in recent months even though he had been involuntarily committed for a mental health examination in 2017.
In the state of DeSantis almost anyone can carry a gun, open or concealed.
Black elected officials said racist attacks like Saturday’s have been encouraged by political rhetoric targeting “wokeness” and policies from the Republican-led state government headed by DeSantis, including one taking aim at the teaching of Black history in Florida.
“We must be clear, it was not just racially motivated, it was racist violence that has been perpetuated by rhetoric and policies designed to attack Black people, period,” said state Rep. Angie Nixon, a Jacksonville Democrat.
“We cannot sit idly by as our history is being erased, as our lives are being devalued, as wokeness is being attacked,” Nixon said. “Because let’s be clear — that is red meat to a base of voters.”
DeSantis’ base.
