We’re flying to New Orleans tomorrow for a dear friend’s wedding.

While there we might spend some time at the music festival in the Quarter.

I’m thinking about some catfish at Jaques-Imo’s.

The first time I had catfish at Jaques-Imo’s was about ten years ago. We were waiting for a table and found myself sitting on a bench next to Tommy Harris.

At the time Harris was an all-pro defensive player for the Chicago Bears.

He was at Jaques-Imo’s with his large family.

I turned to Anne and silently mouthed, “Tommy Harris! Take a picture!”

I have a passing knowledge of pro-football, enough to fake a five minute conversation. But thankfully the conversation switched to food.

Harris was a big guy. He loves food.

He recommended the catfish.

I’m normally not a fan of the dish, but I went with Tommy Harris and he was right.

Delicious.

All this is to say that no matter what some Trumper judge says, I’m wearing my N95 mask on our flight tomorrow.

I’ve had Covid. It was what some might describe as a mild case.

But two weeks later I was in the hospital with chest pains and elevated levels of something in my blood that indicated the possibility of blood clots in my lungs.

After five days in the hospital and a ton of tests and an IV feeding me blood thinner, I was sent home. But the truth is nobody knows the long-term impact of even mild Covid.

Yesterday Joe Biden’s Justice Department announced that it will appeal the ruling from a Trump appointed federal judge if the CDC says the order should remain in place for public health.

If?

The thing is that not only is the judge not qualified to make any decisions regarding Covid and public health, she isn’t qualified to be a judge.

The Department of Justice hasn’t asked for a stay of the no mask mandate ruling by the unqualified Trumper judge.

Which means that it is possible we may be the only one’s on the plane tomorrow wearing a mask.

Shit, I may double up.

And skip the airplane cookies that I love.

When asked whether or not an individual should wear a mask on public transit, President Biden said, "that's up to them."

That is classic Biden leadership.

It’s actually up to him. That why we elected him.

Well, actually fear of Trump was why we elected him.

But on the issue of masks it appears Trump won anyway.
