The world just got more dangerous now that Joe Biden upped the ante while speaking to the press on a visit to Japan.
He directly threatened China with war over Taiwan.
Not since the most heated days of the Cold War have we heard so much talk of war and so little talk of negotiations and peace.
And now the war talk has expanded on two fronts.
I am appalled at the Russian war on Ukraine.
But how does NATO expansion bring us closer to a negotiated settlement in Ukraine? NATO is a military alliance. The purpose of NATO is not peace.
Expanding NATO to include more countries is not a move towards peace.
Negotiation is the only thing that will end the destruction and death in Ukraine.
But there is no talk of negotiations and peace coming from the President.
Instead there is talk of a goal of regime change in Russia. It is not the kind of talk that lowers the threats of nuclear confrontation and global disaster.
Instead of talking peace in Europe, we now talk of war (again) in Asia.
The day after the Senate approved billions more to the war in Ukraine, Biden threatens war on China.
Maybe China was the big deal all along and the Russian invasion of Ukraine was just a distraction.
But whatever, things just got a lot more dangerous.
