On May 4th, 1970 Allison Krause and three other Kent State students were killed by the Ohio National Guard. The university gave them each a parking space in their honor.
On our move/road trip from Chicago to Brooklyn we are stopping for the night in Kent, Ohio.
Home of Kent State University.
I haven't been here since 1974. Anne has never been.
After unloading our stuff at the hotel we headed up to the May 4th memorial on campus.
The Memorial Museum was closed.
We walked over to the official memorial for Allison Krause, Jeff Miller, Sandra Scheuer and William Schroeder.
Four brown blocks next to a little brown plaza.
No names. No dates. No explanation.
For that you have to go to the Museum.
Which was closed.
Over by the parking lot where the murders actually took place there are four parking spaces where the four were shot by Ohio National Guardsmen.
Each of the four murdered students has a parking space.
