None of the above for president.

I missed watching the Biden/Trump debate last night.
Instead I had a great evening at the Branded Saloon in Brooklyn listening to Kay Turner, poet, singer, historian, folklorist and “vintage lesbian” perform with her band, Kay Turn Her and the Pages.

From what I heard, the debate did not go well for Joe Biden.
Of course, Trump lied continuously with no fact checking by the hapless moderators from CNN, Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.
But for those Democrats who were hoping for the Biden campaign to finally come to life, we can finally put a fork in it.
There is nothing but talk this morning of Democrats desperately looking for a substitute.
Even before last night’s Biden Titanic journalist Seymour Hersch speculated about what would happen if the debate turned out as it did.
One extreme possibility in the case of a very bad showing Thursday night, I have been told, is to obtain agreement from Biden and his family advisers for the president to come to the Democratic convention in Chicago in August and accept the accolades of a first-round delegate victory; then he would decline the nomination and throw the nominating process open to all. The new shoe-in candidate, in this vision, might be Gavin Newsom, the young and photogenic governor of California, or the popular Governor J.B. Pritzker of Illinois. The vice presidential nominee—in this scenario—would be up to the convention delegates to select.
Usually after a debate I would write the post about what wasn’t mentioned.
Education. War and peace. Women’s reproductive issues.
No need in this case. It was a total bullshit show.
But as I said, I knew enough to stay away.
But perhaps staying away was wrong.
One friend wrote me to say they wanted to listen to every one of Trump’s lies since all of them were likely to become laws when he won.
