New York is in the mass deportation cross hairs. Democrats cave.

As a recent arrival to New York a disturbing feature of the recent election was watching New York Democratic candidates running for Congress sounding on deportations a whole lot like Trump.
After all, New York is a city of immigrants.
Since Trump’s election it has only gotten worse.
New York’s mayor, Eric Adams, is under indictment for various acts of corruption.
He is hoping to get a pass on the federal indictments by kissing Trump’s behind.
As a result, he is willing to shred the city’s proud history of having sanctuary status for immigrants.
That has meant that the city agencies would not collaoborate with the feds when it comes to deportation of those immigrants without documentation.
An article in The Gothamist last month:
Mayor Eric Adams’ high-stakes meeting with President-elect Donald Trump’s border czar was brokered by a surprising celebrity: Dr. Phil.
Adams’ sit-down at Gracie Mansion with incoming immigration official Tom Homan on Thursday came as New Yorkers prepare for what Trump has vowed will be “the largest deportation operation in the history of our country.” The mayor has signaled a willingness to work with the incoming administration, while at the same time pledging to “be true” to the city’s immigrant roots.
In an interview that aired after the meeting, Homan praised Adams – and revealed that their talk came together last week, while the immigration hardliner was on Dr. Phil’s private plane.
“I've called him out this past year many times about being more of a politician than police officer,” said Homan, who was a police officer in a small town in the North Country before joining the federal government’s border patrol. “I was wrong. He came through today as a police officer and a mayor that cares about the safety and security of his city.”
Homan added to Dr. Phil: “Thank you for making it possible.”
Dr. Phil?
Meanwhile the governor of New York, Democrat Kathy Hochul, has decided she will not be outdone by the Mayor when it comes to supporting mass deportations.
Politico posted yesterday:
Gov. Kathy Hochul is one-upping the mayor’s recently heightened rhetoric on deporting undocumented New Yorkers — saying she will announce a “whole list” of crimes that will trigger deportations if they are committed by an undocumented immigrant.
On Tuesday, during an unrelated press conference in Albany, the governor was asked by Playbook if the approach includes helping Immigration and Customs Enforcement authorities deport undocumented immigrants who commit misdemeanors.
“Serious crimes,” the governor said. “I’m talking about crimes where you are harming individuals, stealing property. We have a whole list.”
The comments from Hochul come as she and Mayor Eric Adams have increasingly embraced hawkish rhetoric around deportation, rhetoric that dovetails with the incoming Trump administration’s “mass deportation” plan.
Trump’s pick, the bully “deportation czar” Tom Homan, has place New York City in his cross hairs.
Why?
Because we are (and always have been) a city of immigrants.
This race to the bottom by Democrats is exactly what cost them the election to Trump in the first place.
