Minneapolis teachers and support staff approve contract after three week strike. Why didn't they just rent out their house on Airbnb instead?

New deal between Airbnb and National Education Association.

Minneapolis Federation of Teachers and Education Support Professionals voted Sunday to ratify the union's tentative agreement with Minneapolis Public Schools, with 75 percent of union members voting "Yes."  

Greta Callahan, president of the teachers chapter, called the deal a win in a press conference following the announcement of the vote.

Callahan urged the union's supporters to run for open school board seats and pressure the state legislatures to increase funding for public schools. 

"Improving the culture of the schools, for my union in particular, getting paid a livable wage means that our district values the work that I do and the work that my fellow colleagues do," said Brad Harris, an Education Support Professional at Anwatin Middle School.

Meanwhile today the largest teacher union, the National Education Association announced a partnership with Airbnb to supplement their members income by renting out teachers’ homes.
