I'm a union guy so I get hate mail like this.
Illinois voters: Yes on the Workers Rights Amendment. Top of the ballot.
Maybe it was my letter to the Chicago Tribune supporting the Workers Rights Amendment to the Illinois Constitution that prompted this anonymous piece of hate mail I got today.
It’s full of lies, off course. But its intent isn’t to convince me to vote against the amendment.
It’s blaming me and unions for poverty and crime.
“Take a bow. You stated you helped teacher union bargaining.”
Indeed I did.
“You should be ashamed of yourself for what you have done to Illinois, Chicago, and the people.”
Actually I’m quite proud of my efforts as a union teacher.
“Amendment 1 in NO WAY serves the people of Illinois.”
Then it’s blah blah blah.
“When poverty and crime go higher, take a bow. You helped to do so.”
Signed: Anonymous.
Coward.
Join me in voting yes on Constitutional Amendment 1, the Workers Rights Amendment. It guarantees the right to collective bargaining in Illinois.
I got a text message that told me I should vote no on the amendment because it will raise my property taxes over $2,000, and the amendment only helps government workers, not the 'private' sector.
Gotta love those annoying anonymous writers. Yep, they are cowards.
I love how these guys are always anonymous. Unions were a response to the inhumane acts of capitalism; not the other way around. If it weren't for unions, twelve years olds would still be working in factories.
