If the election were held today Joe Biden would lose.
A few weeks ago when I reported the shocking results of a New York Times/Siena poll showing that Trump would carry five of six battle ground states, I caught some hell from some readers.
How can it be that Biden is losing to a seemingly disgraced former president facing 91 felony counts in four criminal cases in Washington, New York, Florida, and Georgia.
And it’s not just one poll that reports these results.
Polls since the Times/Siena poll are actually worse for Biden.
This is nothing I’m happy about. And I’ll grant that we are a year away and things may change as the stark reality of a Biden/Trump rematch becomes formalized.
Biden is not helped by his unwavering support for Israel in it’s brutal invasion of Gaza.
Is it too late for Democrats to go with someone else? And who would that be?
Exhibit A in demonstrating how bad the situation is for Biden look at the polling numbers among Black voters released this week.
In the GenForward survey released on Tuesday and shared first with POLITICO, nearly 1 in 5 Black Americans, 17 percent, said they would vote for former President Donald Trump. And 20 percent of Black respondents said they would vote for “someone else” other than Biden or Trump.
Biden has a big problem with young voters too.
Both the Black vote and the youth vote are key to any win by Democrats.
Michigan, a key battleground state, has 200,000 Arab-American voters. Good luck for Biden with those votes.
A poll this week shows that f the election were held today Biden would lose each of the seven swing states by a range of two points in Pennsylvania, to nine points in North Carolina.
This according to a Bloomberg/Morning Consult survey that shows Trump leads by a cumulative average of five points.
The findings show a widening rift between Biden and his base—more people, 23%, who voted for Biden in 2020 are dissatisfied with him versus Trump voters who say they’re unhappy with the former president (17%).
To be clear, I think it is imperative that Trump be defeated.
I just wish the Democrats would help out a bit.
