Spring!
Ramadan, Passover and Easter.
I talked to my neighbor John the other day across the fence. It seemed like the first time in months.
And the temperature in Chicago is still in the 40s.
Our grandson Joey is visiting us this weekend. He’s fourteen and it was his first solo trip by air. In a couple of weeks our daughters and daughter-in-law will be here.
Spring is family time, for sure.
One of my earliest family memories as a kid was singing on road trips.
My Dad had a deep bass voice that sounded like the Paul Robeson records we had at home.
He and his brothers all sang in my Grandfather’s synagogue in Brooklyn as young boys.
My Grandfather was a Rabbi.
But the songs we sang on our road trips were not about God or religion.
They were labor songs and civil rights songs.
One of my favorites was Dark as a Dungeon.
