Andrew Cuomo's shameful Islamophobia must be rejected at the polls.
Another war against a Muslim nation hangs over us like last night’s thunderstorms that rolled through New York city at dusk.
And then there is the stench of Andrew Cuomo’s Islamophobic mayoral campaign.
It has been pointed out that as governor Cuomo never visited an Islamic mosque.
When asked about it during the televised debate Cuomo said he couldn’t remember if he did or he didn’t
But that is hardly the worst of it.
Until recently, Cuomo’s ads - he rarely makes personal appearances or answers questions from the press - focused on his questionable experience.
As Mamdani has closed the gap and surged to within polling margins of error, Cuomo has sunk to the bottom of the barrel.
While Islamophobia has also been a part of this election campaign, it has turned really ugly this past week.
Five million dollars from Mike Bloomberg has fueled a TV ad campaign that characterizes Zohran Mamdani as “dangerous” and “risky” with photographs of him in a Kurta.
There have been mailers that darkened his skin color and lengthened his beard.
This has resulted in the inevitable: Death threats against Mamdani and his family.
Will this work?
I hope not.
Clearly Cuomo is worried, already blaming the heat on election day for a weak turnout from his people.
Cuomo and his hate should be rejected at the polls.
