A pro-life America shoots its children.

The U.S. leads the world in childhood gun deaths.

According to the anti-abortion crowd, life begins at conception and ends when the child is at the wrong end of the barrel of a gun.

The United States leads the world in killing our children with guns.

It is the number one cause of death of children in the United States.

Guns kill more of our children than motor vehicle accidents or childhood diseases.

In no other industrial country are firearm deaths in the top 4 causes of death, let alone the number 1 cause of death among children.

But in striking down Roe and in upholding the Second Amendment, the Supreme Court has declared children a fair target for killing once they are out of the uterus.

Fact: Firearms account for 20% of all child deaths in the U.S., compared to an average of less than 2% of child deaths in similarly large and wealthy nations.

Fact: If firearm deaths in the U.S. occurred at rates seen in Canada it is estimated that approximately 26,000 fewer children’s lives in the U.S. would have been lost since 2010.

There is a bill before the Illinois legislature that would ban assault rifles in the state.

I know.

We need a federal ban.

That’s obvious.

And it’s also obvious that a federal ban is not going to happen anytime soon.

But Illinois should pass the ban on assault weapons.
