The Lord Almighty and Democratic Party donor class.
Donald Trump is off the hook for now.
And he’s keeping a relatively low profile.
And why not?
The convicted felon was already leading in enough swing states to provide him a winning electoral margin with just five months to go until election day.
The debate that was a disaster has only given Trump a bigger lead in the polls. One poll following the debate shows him up by six points.
Whether Joe Biden exiting the scene will even matter anymore is in question.
The national Democrats are just so hapless. How did they not see this coming?
The Party leaders said this was an election between dictatorship and democracy.
And then they clear the way for this guy?
For those who still believed this process has anything to do with democracy, the Biden debacle should be a lesson to them and all of us.
During Friday’s interview with George Stephanopoulos Biden said only the 'Lord Almighty' could oust him from race.
Okay. I’m not a believer.
But even so, I’m pretty sure that is not the way democracy should work.
What is Biden arguing for? The divine right of kings?
It reminds me of a joke.
A man jumps off a cliff with faith that God will save him.
The man hits the ground full force and is left barely alive and bleeding out. A doctor passing by notices the struggling man and says, "Sir, I'm a doctor, please let me help you!"
The man replies, "Get away from me! I have faith that God will heal me!"
The doctor walks away.
Another doctor walking along sees the man and rushes to help to which the man still replies, "Get away from me! I have faith that God will heal me!"
And the doctor walks away.
A third doctor ran up to help, but was met with the same rebuke and shortly after the man breathes his last.
As the man wakes and finds himself at the pearly gate, he becomes angry and asks, "God, I have been faithful to you; why did you not heal me?"
And God replies, "Dude, I sent you three doctors."
The other story line is that whether Biden is permitted to remain in the race will depend on the Democratic Party’s donor class.
Netflix’s co-founder and executive chairman Reed Hastings doubled down on his call for Biden to step aside after the interview.
“Biden is unfortunately in denial about his mental state,” Hastings said in a statement to ABC News. “He needs to step aside to let a vigorous Democratic leader beat Trump.”
Bill Harris, the former CEO of Paypal, told the outlet that Biden “seemed old” in the interview and he thinks it may turn off voters who are skeptical of Biden’s abilities.
He donated $620,000 to the Biden Victory Fund in 2020 but thinks the idea of Biden stepping aside in this race is “inevitable.”
Ahead of the ABC interview, Whitney Tilson, a major investor for Democrats, told ABC News that one great interview wouldn’t change his view that it’s “highly unlikely” that Biden will beat Trump in November.
Tilson told the outlet that “even the wealthiest people have limitations to money” and he wants to hold his donation in order to support the candidates that “throw their hat in the ring.”
In a lengthy post on social media platform X, Tilson said Biden’s campaign is “a ghost.”
“It’s over,” he posted after the interview, calling it a “cringeworthy public display of irreversible aging.”
Billionaire Rick Caruso also posted online saying it’s time for Biden to step aside.
“I deeply respect Joe Biden’s lifetime of service to our country,” he said, adding, “In this critical time, in this vital election, stepping aside is the right and honorable thing for President Biden to do.”
Before the interview, Damon Lindelof, the co-creator of “Lost” and a notable Democratic Party supporter, called on his fellow Democratic donors to stop giving money to the party until Biden steps down.
He said Biden’s debate performance was “game-changing” and said it’s time for someone new.
In a real democracy neither the Lord Almighty nor the donor class would decide who leads the country.
